While writing The Anomalies, my research inevitably leads me astray. After all, the story focuses on two societies who are wildly different from ours. The Noeds use the power of their minds while the Trans harness technology to a degree we can only dream of; for now, anyway.
I was researching the Trans when I got sidetracked. I ran across an article about a real-life mech.
Been There Done Tha---Wait...
Once, while living in Victoria, Canada I visited the British Columbia Parliament. The building had stunning architecture and dwarfed everything around it. But it wasn't the size or beauty that got my attention. It was a very distinct, prominent, almost purposeful feeling that I'd been there before. Now, if it was just a familiarity of the place, I could've easily chalked it up to anything from a previously seen photo to an article with a good description of it. But it wasn't just the building and the surroundings.
The Magic Of Miniatures
When I was a kid, I played with miniatures. So did you. No? Think about it. Whenever a little boy plays with action figures and builds models, and whenever a little girl plays with dolls and their houses, they're playing with miniatures. If You Build It...
Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise…
For many of us, these iconic words bring an immediate sense of adventure and nostalgia. Since its inception in 1966, Star Trek has been one of the most prolific science fiction stories ever told. There are countless futuristic aspects that capture our imagination - starships capable of long range space travel, technology that atomizes our bodies and transports it vast distances in mere heartbeats, hand sized medical devices capable of closing up all but the most grievous of wounds, and the list goes on.
For The Love Of Zombies
I saw my first zombie movie, Night of the Living Dead when I was around thirteen and I've been hooked ever since and I'm not the only one. In fact, there's such a huge following, it's practically a cult movement. So what is it about zombies? Why the infatuation?
It's like a bad car accident. Doesn't matter how terrible it is, we just can't help rubbernecking. But why? To see something gruesome? Are we even sure we want that imprinted on our memories forever? And yet, nine out of ten times, we do our very best to catch a glimpse.
